We don’t aim to meet OFSTED requirements, we aim to exceed them!

Some see OFSTED requirements as the ultimate standard. We see them as the bare minimum, and always strive to go above and beyond.

OFSTED require:
Ratios of staff to children :

Babies 1:3,

Toddlers 1:4,

Pre-School 1:8

1 first aid person

50% of staff qualified to NVQ Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE)
Supernumerary Manager (i.e. an extra team member in addition to the OFSTED ratios)
One Graduate Early Years Professional (EYP) or teacher by 2012.

The Old School House Nursery insists on:

Every keyperson qualified to NVQ level 3 or equivlent.

All team members have a have a paediatric first aid qualification

All the team get “non contact time” to complete paperwork and planning.

Staff members are encouraged to work towards a higher level of childcare qualification.

Manager is qualified with a degree in Early Years and Early Years Professional Status.
