All about us

Caterpillar Group - 3 months to 1 year

At this very early stage, babies are gaining competence in observing and responding to their immediate environment and communicating with those around them. The Caterpillar Group focuses on tactile activities that stimulate and encourage development. This group reflects a "home-from-home" environment providing a gentle transition from home to nursery life.Picture 5969.jpg

Butterfly Group age 1 to 2 years

Picture 6722.jpgAt this age, children begin exploring their environment with increasing mobility, dexterity and language. The Butterfly group enables these skills to flourish using purpose-built furniture and play resources that encourage children to stretch themselves both physically and imaginatively by exploration of the world about them

Bumble Bee Group aged 2 - 3 years

With the child’s growing independence and the development of their own unique personality, our focus moves to developing a range of life, social and self-help skills. Activities such as circle time, shared meal times, dressing skills and toilet training support this stage. During this time, children are introduced to a more structured day, in preparation for the learning that lies ahead of them. Picture 6547.jpg

The Ladybird Group 3 to 5 years

Picture 6756.jpgAs confidence grows and children demonstrate skills in building relationships, our activities are structured to emphasise the Early Learning Goals for the development of pre-school children. Knowledge is enhanced through purposeful play and children are introduced to a wide variety of learning opportunities such as early reading and number skills, mark-making, imaginative play and ICT.

Attendance

Nursery places can be booked on a full time or part time basis. Children who are using part time places are preferably required to attend for a minimum of two sessions (not days) per week. The children in our care gain much more from regular visits at the nursery and it is important that they feel a part of The Old School House and build up a relationship with the staff from early on.

Please contact me with any special requirements you may have.
